翻譯點津：小詞skill和offer的地道用法

一說到“水平”，很多同學首先就會想到 level 一詞；但是老外可不是這么想的，他們更傾向于skills。
1、怎樣才能提高我們的英語水平？
Chinglish: How to improve our English level? (老外一般不會這么說，但是應該可以看懂)
Revision: How to improve our English skills?
2、他的寫作和翻譯水平很高。
Chinglish: His writing and translating levels are very high.
Revision: He has very good writing and translation skills.
現在是追求技能的時代，skills 也隨之走俏。什么 communications skills(溝通技巧)， computer skills(電腦技術)， study skills(學習能力)， survival skills(生存能力)……全都泛濫了。
Offer
這個詞比較微妙，英譯中時不太好處理，正因如此，這個詞才值得我們重視。
1、謝謝你的好意，不過我可以走回去。
Chinglish: Thank you for your goodwill, but I can go home on foot.
Revision: Thanks for your offer, but I can walk home.
2、全國人民紛紛向災區伸出了援助之手。
Chinglish: All people in the country are giving their hands to the disaster area.
Revision: People all over the country are offering helping hands to the disaster area.
凡是帶有“給予”、“善意提供的(幫忙)”等意思，就可以考慮 offer 這個詞。我們可以把 give 的空間讓點給offer。
3、他給了我一份工作做。
Chinglish: He gave me a job to do.
Better version: He offered me a job.
4、這個機會可是我最后給你的。答應不答應隨你的便。
Chinglish: This is the last opportunity I give to you. I don't care if you take it or not.
Better version: This is my last offer to you. Take it or leave it.
Offer 可以做動詞用，也可以做名詞用。還有一些固定搭配，其中最熟悉的便是 job offer(工作邀請，表示公司愿意接納某人為其員工的意愿，被邀請者可以接受此邀請加入公司)。到了找工作的時候，盡是聽到大家問：“你收到offer了嗎？”(沒收到過offer的人掩面逃走……)
