　　一、準備好鉛筆、稿紙、英語詞典工具書(或英語電子詞典)。選擇專業的英語聽寫素材(包含節目文稿和MP3聲音)，文章篇幅不要太長。

　　二、集中注意力，全神貫注地完整地聽1遍錄音，以判斷難易程度決定先看還是先聽。如果完全能聽懂，也能理解文章內容，可另外換一個難度大點的素材;如果大概能聽懂，但存在多處細節不明白，那這篇文章非常適合練習聽力，可先聽后看;如果聽完一遍只能聽懂幾個句子或單詞，不能掌握文章大意，說明較難，可先直接細讀以基本理解原文，把不懂的詞匯通過查詢弄懂，閱讀完后繼續完成以下的步驟。

　　三、第二次完整的播放錄音，開始摘要式聽寫，只需寫出文章大意。用筆將聽到的關鍵詞句寫在稿紙上，聽不懂得可先打個問號代替下。為了提高書寫速度，對于類似United States可采用簡寫形式，不熟悉的人名、地名也可簡寫。不允許暫停播放，要播到哪、聽到哪、寫到哪。

　　四、接著就是完全式的聽寫，多聽幾遍，可播一句聽一句，暫停播放寫一句，以爭取寫出與原文一摸一樣的聽寫稿。對于英語初學者，建議能經常進行完全式聽寫，有助于辨清單詞發音，糾正習慣性單詞拼寫錯誤，并增加聽力詞匯。
