摘要：在雅思閱讀考試的過程中，同學們不難發現，大篇幅的英文當中往往會夾雜這一些數字信息，而在字母叢中，雅思閱讀考試中的數字信息也就顯得分外顯眼，而根據很多考生參加雅思閱讀考試的經驗來看，這類的數字信息往往又是關鍵句的內容，能夠幫助很好地雅思閱讀考試解題。
舉例如下：Q10 / Test 2 / Cambridge IV:
題目：Do the following statements agree with the views of the writer in Reading Passage 1? (Y / N / NG)
10. The Navajo language will die out because it currently has too few speakers.
該句為帶有原因狀語從句的復合句，判斷正誤時，需分2步走，先判斷主句，若主句是 N 或NG中的一個，那么就以此為答案，無需再判斷從句了;但若主句判斷為 Y, 那么還需繼續對從句加以判斷，從句最終的 Y / N /NG 就是題目的答案。
主句中The Navajo language will die out 的內容已知曉，在文章首段的 Line 3: … the native language is dying … (此處的native 指 the native Navojo, 前文有述)，那么要判斷的就是從句了。從其中的內容應該讀出關鍵信息是 too few speakers. 這里包含了一點和數字相關的信息few, 換言之，文中有可能會涉及到數字。
到文中尋找，在第三段的Line 5 發現了 150，000 speakers. 回到句首讀原句：Navajo is considered endangered despite having 150,000 speakers. 雖然沒有明示 150，000 speakers 是多還是少，不過despite 已經明確了語氣：多，因為整句是說：盡管有150，000人講納瓦霍語，它還是面臨危險地境地。這無疑是在說這個數字已經不少了。
因此，原句中的從句我們可以判斷為錯誤，從而Q10 的答案是 NO.
舉例二：Q 5 / T 1 / Cambridge 5
Johnson did not have a 5_________ available to him, but eventually produced definitions of inexcess of 40,000 words written down in 80 large notebooks.
由題目中出現的數字40，000 可以定位到原文中page 17 的第二段Line 4:
Johnson wrote the definitions of over 40,000 words, and illustrated their many meanings…
返回到句首:
The work was immense: filling about eighty large notebooks (and without a library to hand),
再由題目分析得知：所需答案為可數名詞，并且是Johnson 在編撰詞典的工作中不具備的(did not … available),而文中括號里‘without a library to hand’正好契合了該信息點，還有a 這個信號詞進一步確定，答案就非它莫屬了：library。
總之，雅思閱讀考試的過程中要善于利用文章中突出的信息點，而數字信息只是其中的一點，如果運用的好，在多數情況下都能大大的提高雅思閱讀考試的解題效率。
