　　My ambition to become an attorney has always been synonymous with my desire to practice labor and employment law. In pursuit of this goal, I recently earned both a Juris Doctor with a Labor and Employment Law Certificate and a master’s degree in Human Resources from Antioch University. Presently, I am planning to relocate to the Washington, D.C., area to be at the forefront of this rapidly evolving field. As such, I wish to apply for a position as a first-year associate at your firm.

　　My graduate studies in both law and human resources have enabled me to gain valuable insight into the most current legal issues affecting the workplace. I conducted classroom presentations on many of these issues, such as employment discrimination, sexual harassment, union disputes, and Workers’ Compensation. As employment law is an expansive discipline, I have also gained experience in areas such as administrative and criminal law in order to understand this area from diverse perspectives.

　　Throughout law school, I have taken advantage of every opportunity to apply what I learned in the classroom to real-world situations. Through internships and numerous community-service activities, I have assisted people from diverse backgrounds with a variety of concerns. As a result, I have developed excellent communication skills and a keen ability to assess individual clients’ needs. Each experience, both academic and work related, also afforded me the opportunity to develop the necessary research, writing, and analytical skills required of a first-class attorney.
