A MODEL STUDENT
Do you mind being called a bad student? Of course not. So far as I know, everybody intends to be (become) a model student.
However, to be a model student is by no means an easy thing. First, he must do his best to obtain knowledge. A man without sufficient knowledge will not succeed. Secondly, he must remember to improve his health. Only a strong man can do great tasks. Thirdly, he should receive moral education. If his conduct is not good, no one will consider making friends with him.
The fast development of Chinese economy brings great chance for some people to get rich in the 1990s. They seize the chance and gain a lot fortune to become the rich generation and their children are called as the second rich generation, which is believed to be the negative word. The rich people still have a long way to go as noble in spirit.
When the media report news about Chinese second rich generation, they are often described to be violent, rude and impolite. These rich kids live the comfortable life, but their parents haven’t educated them well because they are busy with their business. Or these kids are sent to study abroad, they are still the wild children.
Look at the rich people in the developed countries, which are treated as the noble. Though these kids enjoy the great fortune, they live as the ordinary people. They are educated to be polite and respect people since they are small. The most important thing is that they don’t treat themselves as special group.
The real rich people are noble in spirit, the good manners they own make them special.

Can Money Buy Happiness
Nowadays, a lot of people in society think the more money they have the more happiness they will obtain. As a result they will try their best to get money, even without considering the law.
But in my view, the greatest happiness lies in one’s satisfaction with one’s surroundings. So long as we can look at things with a happy heart, we can be happy. It has nothing to do with a mount of money we have. Therefore, people shouldn’t pay too much attention money we have. On the contrary (相反地) what they should do is to put their money to good use and try to have an optimistic outlook all the time.

Today is the sixth day of my cellphone life, in these six days, I get happy from the cellphone. I like the cellphone, that’s true, I like the games in the cellphone, I like the new things in the cellphone. Well now, I’ll talk about the games. Yes, nearly all of the children love games, computer games, cellphone games, vii… Those games are popular in the children’s world, even some grow-ups like the games, too. The cellphone games in my cellphone are not so much but four, I know two of them from my cousin’s cellphone. Another one is called ‘San Guo Sha’. It’s my favorite game which is learned from the boys in my class. It’s a very funny game, it has all the people in the Three Kingdoms. I sometimes play the games, and I feel happy, but the sad thing happened.
My mom-- who will never buy me a cellphone like the one I have—she always thinks I will drop in to the games and never comes up again. She hates games, and when she finds I am playing the cellphone game, she will be very angry about that, she wants to stop me playing cellphone games, even for a few minutes. She thinks I will not study if I play the cellphone games. But she is wrong! She said if I played the cellphone games I would not want to read books. Then, who’s the one asked her to read book together this morning? That’s me! I love reading, and if no one pushes, I’d love to study! Playing games, studying and reading, are not conflicting. My mom always thinks the thing will never happen. I will prove it! Wait and see!
My father often writes. That is his job. This winter vacation, father was rushing through a research task. He was in need of a person urgently to type his results into the computer. He has no assistant till now, so he asked me if I could do that for him. He promised to pay me. I agreed happily, for this was the first opportunity for me to earn some money of my own. Then I became a little employee of my father, although just for a short time. I spent almost all my spare time in typing. And my father was very satisfied with what I had done.
There’s a Native American site in Ohio that appeared to be a fort. But recent discoveries by archaeologists at the University of Cincinnati show that’s not the case. Instead, it’s a two-thousand year old Shawnee water management system. It stretches out almost six kilometers. That’s much larger than what had been thought to comprise the so-called fort. It’s one of the largest such sites in the country.
What had been thought to be gates for military protection are actually a series of dams and irrigation canals. There are logs and clay bricks for damming; raceways for flowing water originate in far-off springs. The water was stored and channeled for irrigation. Drill cores show water sediments and clay.
The site demonstrates a sophisticated knowledge of engineering—which archaeologists did not realize that Native American communities might have. The site also reveals an emphasis on public works, rather than on war. So this discovery might rewrite a bit of history. Another interesting note: Shawnee remains from the time are typically of petite, graceful men—and robust, muscular women. So it was probably the women who built the water system. Which means even more history to rewrite.
