分號還有第二個用法：used to separate the parts of a complicated sentence or items in a detailed list, showing a pause that is longer than a comma but shorter than a full stop/period(該用法在新sat中暫未考察過，此處只做補充。)

冒號的作用是：to explain an abstract noun or introduce a list. 冒號主要的作用是解釋和列舉。冒號前應該是完整句，冒號后可以是詞,短語甚至是句子。

但是根據我們剛剛說冒號使用的句子結構規則：冒號前是完整句子。我們可以很快排除d 選項，因為冒號前面只有although well compensated這個從句。最后選擇a 選項，用括號來表示補充說明。
